A Journey to Hong Kong Day 2 : Four Seasons Pot Rice (四季煲仔飯), Hing Kee Restaurant (興記菜館) and Temple Street Night Market @ Yau Ma Tei

Click in if you havent read my Journey to Hong Kong Day 2 Part 2.

Sorry for lack of update my Hong Kong post. Been pretty busy with my life. You know, watching movie, playing game, shake leg at home. Nah just kidding. OMG still stuck in day 2 eh :( Anyway it is the last part of my day 2 in Hong Kong. Obviously it is time for dinner and some night life activity. Well I mean walking night market. We explored to Yau Ma Tei!

From my research.. well not exactly thoroughly awesome research since I can't read chinese. Most of my foods research of HK are gotten from KampungBoyCityGirl blog. They are awesome yo! Anyway back to topic. Heard that Yau Ma Tei has famous pot rice and not only one shop, but two! Well actually I realize the whole temple street is full with pot rice restaurant but the famous are always either Four Seasons Pot Rice (四季煲仔飯) or Hing Kee Restaurant (興記菜館). The shop are opposite to each other. Good rivalry huh?

Without hesitation, we went into Four Seasons Pot Rice (四季煲仔飯) first. It is packed inside and of course, being in Hong Kong, tap toi (share table with others) is unavoidable. Thanks got I got awesome chinese reader to went Hong Kong with me, my deary. We orders Deep Fried Oyster Cake and also Salty Fish and Chicken with rice.

* Deep Fried Oyster Cake $25 *

The Deep Fried Oyster Cake fried together with duck egg and honestly it is one of the best I ever had! Not to mention one of the most oily 1 LOL. The oyster feel fresh as well. It is really good and it should be feel less oily if eat it with rice.

* Salty Fish & Chicken with Rice $35 *

The chicken in tender enough and nice. We can add our own soy sauce to the rice but unfortunately it is still not salty enough despite we pour almost a spoon of the sauce. Guess HK people like less salty eh? The whole rice actually pretty plain and tasteless.

Website : N/AAddress : 46-58 Arthur Street, Yau Ma TeiRemarks : They only provide hot tea for free but not selling other drinks. Bring your own soft drinks if you want. No plus 10% service charge.

Next, we move on to Hing Kee Restaurant (興記菜館). Compare with Four Seasons Pot Rice (四季煲仔飯), it is less people. We ordered Spare Ribs and Chinese Sausage Rice with pot and also Deep Fried Pork Intestine.

* Spare Ribs and Chinese Sausage Rice with Pot $30 *

I don't like chinese sausage and personally the taste of the sausage in here is one the worst I ever had. Nothing to shout on the rice and spare ribs. It is plain and I felt Four Seasons Pot Rice (四季煲仔飯) taste much better. Just an honest comparison from me, no offence k?

* Deep Fries Pork Intestine $55 *

The Deep Fried Pork Intestine wasn't my favourite either despite being a pork lover and wouldn't mind to have intestines in my Bat Kut Teh soup. The pork taste smell too strong and oily as well. Make me feel like puke out all my previous dinner.

Conclusion, I don't enjoy my dinner in Hing Kee Restaurant (興記菜館). Oh well, what done is done. We grab the opportunity to have a walk at night market of Temple Street.

Website : N/AAddress : G/F, 14, 19, 21 Temple Street & 48 Arthur Street, Yau Ma Tei

It doesn't look much difference from what we have in local. Clothes, toys, etc are everywhere. Did some research and apparently tourist rated Temple Street has the best night market compare with others.

Unfortunately rain came on wrong time and both of us ran quickly into the store. Manage to grab a bottle of Kronenbourge while waiting rain stop. Yay my first beer in HK! and the only one LOL

Next day, we are going to eat breakfast at restaurant that has one Michelin star, then we went into big temple again and on night time, I brace myself with all the chinese words on street, ALONE. Stay tune for my next post of Hong Kong ;)

We're The Millers Premier Screening

Courtesy to Nuffnang I get to watch We're The Millers Premier Screening before it release in cinema.

David Burke (Sudeikis) is a small-time pot dealer whose clientele includes chefs and soccer moms, but no kids—after all, he has his scruples. So what could go wrong? Plenty. Preferring to keep a low profile for obvious reasons, he learns the hard way that no good deed goes unpunished when he tries to help out some local teens and winds up getting jumped by a trio of gutter punks. Stealing his stash and his cash, they leave him in major debt to his supplier, Brad (Ed Helms).

In order to wipe the slate clean—and maintain a clean bill of health—David must now become a big-time drug smuggler by bringing Brad’s latest shipment in from Mexico. Twisting the arms of his neighbors, cynical stripper Rose (Aniston) and wannabe customer Kenny (Will Poulter), and the tatted-and-pierced streetwise teen Casey (Emma Roberts), he devises a foolproof plan. One fake wife, two pretend kids and a huge, shiny RV later, the “Millers” are headed south of the border for a Fourth of July weekend that is sure to end with a bang.

It has been time since I had all this silly character, silly storyline and silly movie. It was pretty good honestly. Solid storyline, great character development for each "Millers" members. If I would to vote, my favourite character goes to Will Poulter as Kenny "Millers". Lucky bastard who get to kiss both Jennifer Aniston and Emma Roberts and also get his balls poison by spider.

Seem like our local censorship board does a great job not cutting any of the scene from the movie. They even pixelated the Will Poulter lanjiao when it was bitten by the spider. Not sure it was pixelated original or it was their work because I remember seeing the trailer in Youtube it was totally exposed. Anyway good job. All the fuck words are clearly heard in this movie.

If I would complain the movie it will probably 2 things. The rapid beard growth for Jason Sudeikis in a day. He just shave at morning and night time already grow out. WOW that escalating quickly. Next would be the useless drug dealer villain, Pablo Chacon who don't immediately shoot down the Millers family when he got two guns with him. Oh he request for strip dance too. Really sei hamsup lou.

Great movie honestly. Good for laughing and relaxing. Catch this at cinema coming this Thursday ;)

Kick Ass 2 Premier Screening

Courtesy of Nuffnang, I get to watch Kick Ass 2 Premier Screening before it release from cinema.

Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2. After Kick-Ass’ (Aaron Taylor- Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother Fuckerr—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation.

Somehow I felt the sequel is lack of some kick ass-ing mojo compare with the first movie. However, it is still enjoyable with all the bloody fake CGI, gore enough as well and decent action fight. Storyline is simple, solid and predictable as usual.

Disappointed with Jim Carrey for not being major character and doesn't show much of his fun side. Surprisingly my partner of the movie, Zhao doesn't know that's Jim Carrey. Guess he is ageing much and the sound doesnt like him too. The gathering of a bunch of super hero wannabe and also super villain wannabe is pretty cool. Avenger Assamble anyone? :P

I have not much to complain the movie. It is decent enough and fun to watch. Just feeling meh on the censorship in this movie. Mother Russia FTW!

NoReservation Japanese Fast Food Cafe @ SS15

Once in a while, me & deary love to dig hidden gem around. Well the hidden gem here mean some restaurant that doesn't look mainstream. We stumble across this shop last week, NoReservation Cafe and they claim themself Japanese Fast Food. The shop located at SS15, same row with Mc Donald.

Upon arriving, we were greeted by the Japanese cashier (who is the owner I assume). On the left is sushi and some menu while on the right side of the wall is the menu as well. We choose Set C, RM40 where the set come with Udon or Soba, Choice of 2 Sushi Plate, Soft Shell Crab, Chicken Teriyaki, Edamame, Fruit and drink (refillable). I ordered extra Geso (Fried Calamari), Mushroom Tempura and another Char Siu Udon as well. In addition, we get another free drink since our receipt hit over RM50.

Nevertheless, here are our foods.

* Mushroom Tempura RM 7 *
* Soft Shell Crab RM 12 *
* Geso (Fried Calamari) RM 6 *
* Edamame (SET C) and Chicken Teriyaki (SET C) *
* Salmon Sushi *
* Ebi Sushi *
* Normal Udon (SET C) *
* Char Siu Udon RM 10 *

I did not put much expectation but the Char Siu in the Udon is pretty good. Not the best but good enough. The Salmon sushi is fresh as well! Meanwhile, the Chicken Teriyaki a little bit disappointed. It doesn't achieve the standard taste it should have. Other than that, the rest is decent enough and trust me, it is not bad.

Price wise and the portion, it is justifiable for me. Not to say very cheap, but the price good enough to stay away from the main competitors. Overall, it is good dining experience in NoResevation. I wouldn't mind to pay a visit again whenever I am craving for some Japanese foods.

Elysium Premier Screening

Courtesy to Nuffnang, I get to watch Elysium Premier Screening before it release in cinema today.

In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) will stop at nothing to preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium – but that doesn't stop the people of Earth from trying to get in by any means they can. Max (Matt Damon) agrees to take on a life-threatening mission, one that could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

The reason I watch this movie is because I put too high expectation to the director. Well, the higher u expect, the more disappointment u get isn't? There are too much flaws in this movie however I only gonna praise the storyline. It is solid. But not the best. The story started really slow, slow and go on really slow until the climax.

The protagonist wasn't exactly like all hero from others movie. He is selfish, he just don't want to die and willing to do whatever he need to get to Elysium to cure his radiation. The suits that he wore was pretty useless. It suppose to provide him super power that easily kick Droids ass which shown at the beginning, but middle of the movie show he easily get pawned by Krugger underling when the plane crash.

Though Elysium seem nice, high tech but the main focus seem like the machine that can-cure-whatever-shitbrix-happened-on-your-body. That's include your exploded face. So, Elysium invested too much on such machine but never bother to invest on security that stop illegal immigrant? Oh they have Droids but practically never use them to defend the base. Not to mentioned the whole Elysium system easily get stolen from someone brain without any difficulty.

Too many similar kind of movie this year (Oblivion, After Earth and etc) and this make Elysium not so special. I still enjoy District 9 more.
