Yes this post is full of black & white photos. Don't ask me why. I just feel like do it. Don't get me wrong, the real situation and the street actually very colourful and happening. I am just trying to desaturated it and see what kind of story or emotion I can create through my photos.

There are still long way to go and more to learn in photography for me.

Pizza Gallery @ Publika Review

P1071196

Damn totallyd elayed this post for more than a month. Sorry! Life was pretty busy and demotivated in some reason. Anyway, it is Pizza Gallery at Publika! Not exactly a pizza lover unless it is really something very cheesy and awesome topping! Nevertheless, Pizza Gallery did not only did well on their topping and cheese, they even emphasis their bread! Offered in both thin and pan crust, my personal fav would be pan crust because it is soft and easy to chew! Alright without any delay lets begin the pizza review!

P1071228R
* Cheese Bread RM 6.90 *

Cheese bread in Pizza Gallery is very soft! As the name suggested, it topped with mozzarella cheese and also salted butter as well. Definitely one of my favourite bread in pizza shop!

P1071230R
* Soup of the day *

Not the best soup. One can easily guess it is directly from an instant soup packet or probably renowned distributor. Nothing to shout.

P1071205
* Caesar Salad RM 8.90 *

Nothing to shout. Decent enough.

P1071226R
* Signature Chicken Wing RM 15.90 *

It is one of the dish that I high recommended as well, the Signature Chicken Wings. It is fried chicken with homemade seasoning and topping with BBQ sauce. Not so crunchy, just nice.

P1071221R
* Chicken Burger RM 12.90 *

As a burger lover, I disapproved this. Though it is cheap, huge in portion but it is almost tasteless for me. Chicken meat are dry, cheese not melt enough and don't have impressive sauce. Guess doing a burger now is very competitive as we have alot, too many, damn alot choices at outside now.

P1071203
* Macaroni Cheese RM 12.90 *

Mac N' Cheese definitely my favourite! I said that I love cheese isn't? The cheese are creamy, dense and flavourful! A must order for pasta & cheese lover.

P1071207
* Spaghetti Seafood RM 15.90 *

Alot, alot, alot of seafood in this pasta! Ok thats my only impression. Taste wise it is decent enough and nothing to shout.

P1071212R
* Aglio Olio RM 10.90 *

Spicy and cheesy Aglio Olio? That's my first time trying this and personally feel it doesn't go well. Mac N' Cheese still the best.

P1071214R
* Tom Yum Spaghetti RM 15.90 *

Tom Yum Spaghetti is specially design for spicy lover. Note that it is really spicy and not like those usual tom yum you get at local Thai restaurant. Personally, I dislike too spicy foods because it beat the purpose of eating the whole thing. Must as well just grab the sauce and eat.

P1071210
* Beef Pepperoni RM 22.90 *

Beef Pepperoni probably is of my favourite eventhough it is something common in any pizza restaurant. It is cheesy enough for my like :P

P1071211R
* Island Seafood RM 27.90 *

Island Seafood come with thousand island sauce (DUH), pineapple, onion, tuna flake & mozzarella. Nothing much to shout.

P1071216R
* Satay Delight RM 25.90 *

As much as I like satay, personally I think it just ok when merge with pizza. Using the common satay sauce, it also topped with satay chicken, onion, garnishing with red chili, cucumber & mozzarella.

P1071218R
* Tom Yum Special RM 29.90 *

Again, it is spicy type of pizza! It came with Tom Yum sauce, squid, prawn, crabstick,onion, garnishing with cilantro & Kaffir Lime Leaves & Mozzarella. Spicy lover will love this.

P1071223R
* Sweet & Sour Lover Pizza RM 24.90 *

Sweet & Sour Lover Pizza almost same with island seafood except they are using lime sauce instead. Decent enough and nothing much too shout. Afterall, how bad can a pizza be right?

P1071231R
* Italian Supreme RM 26.90 *

Italian Supreme also decent enough with Beef pepperoni, salami, capsicum & mozzarella as main ingredient. This is the only pizza we have with pan crust and I love it so much.

It was a pretty decent dining in Pizza Gallery. Afterall as I mention before how bad can a pizza be? It doesn't wow me enough but definitely a good place to hangout with friends and enjoy the moment of eating same plate of pizza. They even have buffet pizza too offered during 3-5pm Happy Hour with RM25++ per pax.

Yashica 635

If there is one thing that can always make me smile and happy, it will be about camera! Yes I love camera.

If you seen some of my social site (fb, twitter, insta, dayre) you can easily spotted recently I just bought a Yashica 635 and Yashica D. Yes a medium format TLR! Just have sudden addiction and urge to get a medium format camera and TLR are the cheapest option after did some research online. In addition, I got a good bargain on the Yashica camera. Hence, without hesitating I went to bought it and begin my retro journey to shoot.

Inserted my very first 120mm roll of film, Fujifilm Reala ISO 100 and begin to shoot before CNY. Being a noob, I din know 120mm film only contain 12 shots. Uhh each shots are so precious that I have to considered and think alot before waste it. So yea, here are some sample from my Yashica 635 + Fujifilm Reala. If any photo look sucks, it is only because my noob skill, don't blame the camera.

Olympus TG-2 iHS Review

P2160346
* Splash into water! *

How often we seen serious underwater or rugged camera around? Well Olympus is very serious on this and they done well on what they are doing. Courtesy to Olympus Malaysia, I am given chance to review the Olympus TG-2 iHS. I have to say it is one of the craziest compact camera I ever used. Underwater, rugged and super macro!

Introduction

P2160362

Before I go on, here some specification you should look on the Olympus TG-2 iHS :

  • 12.0 effective megapixel BSI-CMOS sensor
  • F2.0-4.9, 25-100mm lens (4X)
  • Sensor-shift image stabilization
  • Waterproof to 15m, shockproof from 2.1m, crushproof to 100 kg, freezeproof to -10C
  • 3.0 inch OLED display with 610,000 dot resolution
  • Aperture priority mode
  • Built-in GPS with landmark tagging, compass, manometer, and logging
  • 5 fps continuous shooting
  • 1080/30p movie mode with stereo sound
  • Support for fish-eye and telephoto conversion lenses

P2160363
* Camera top layout *
P2160367
* Camera back layout *

The moment I hold the camera, I knew it is solid. It is a little bit heavier than compact nowdays but it is definitely feel solid that you wouldn't mind holding it and use. You don't need to have rocket science or genius brain to learn the button layout since it is simple and straight forward like what a compact should be. For those who love to shoot manual, at least there are Aperture priority mode with limited aperture selection only.

P2160369
* Left side of the camera with double lock *
P2160370
* HDMI and USB slot *
P2160372
* SD slot and battery *

There are double lock on the camera battery cover and also the USB slot which enhance the security when you drop it or using it underwater. Of course, there are a layer of rubber on the cover to block the water from going into the slot. So yes, make sure everything is closed tightly before dip the camera into water!

P2160374

Olympus TG-2 iHS can take accessories too from Olympus - fish-eye and telephoto conversion lenses by taking out the red ring in front.

P2160376

The only thing I dislike the TG-2 so far? Definitely the OLED screen! Color are totally not accurate and contrast level are too high. I knew how much I hated the OLED since my own Olympus E-P3.

Alright I believe photos speak louder itself. So I have tested the TG-2 iHS in difference condition and you guys gonna judge it. As usual here are the disclaimer - I am not a professional photographer and my review are solely based on my own user experience. For the photos below all are SOOC and resizing it to fit into my blog.

Using Olympus TG-2 iHS underwater

So yea, being a rugged and underwater capable camera, an underwater test is a must! Unfortunately I can't swim and I don't have volunteer model for me to shoot underwater. Hence, I take a quick shot in my house aquarium. With fishes of course.

P2060086

P2060087

Next, I took a container and throw some random object into it with water and begin shooting. Note that it is indoor environment.

P2161931

P2161942

P2161945

Still, I felt that I couldn't replicate real world underwater scene. Without hesitating, I brought the container to outdoor, with a hot sun burning the land and tadaaa..It look like the scene in my head LOL

P2161980

Shooting underwater/inside water with the TG-2 doesn't feel much difference than shooting at normal situation. The auto focus work very fast and accurately. My only regret was I can't bring the camera and experience true underwater shooting. Well, I believe there are a tones of reviews and samples at Google. I did a quick video as well in and out water using the TG-2.

Using Olympus TG-2 iHS as Macro shooter (product)

I enjoy shooting product and I always wonder how cool it is if I owned a macro lens to do it. Unfortunately I never enjoy macro shooting since it is about patient and patient and patient despite how much I love shooting product (Hence, I only rely on my Olympus 14-54mm f2.8-3.5 II). I am trying to use the TG-2 to do some product shooting solely on Super Macro mode. For your information, the TG-2 Super Macro allowed you to shoot as close as you can. Literally slap the whole camera into your object and shoot. Alright for this test, I am using 1 LED lighting to assist me.

Personally, I think it is great since the super macro mode can really shoot very close up! If any of the photos look bad it is not because of the camera, but is because my skill and knowledge in controlling lighting and composition sucks. The TG-2 is definitely lack of dynamic range due to small sensor. It would be great if this camera can shoot RAW.

Using Olympus TG-2 iHS on daily life

I believe TG-2 can do more than being a underwater camera. What if I use it in daily life? How about low light capability?

Notice that the color rendered like just what a Olympus camera should be? I am very pleased of the result.

For extreme low light testing, I grab the opportunity to use the camera at ChurpChurp CNY outing with Tiger Raddler last weekend at GAB. Manage to push the camera to ISO limit 3200. Ok lemme convert this little review into a quick post for the ChurpCNYouting X)

P2080236
* Yeeing & Ryan - ISO 800 *
P2080255
* Your truly and Pei Li - ISO 100 with flash *

Obviously, the camera barely do well on ISO 800. This is something unavoidable for camera with small sensor. So, use the flash when it is really needed which I think it ain't that bad. Personally I love to set the flash as fill in mode. It would be great if the flash has rear mode...

Here some video taken on that day.

Conclusion

Overall, Olympus TG-2 iHS one of the best rugged and waterproof camera I ever use. The f2 lens on wide angle do help alot in low light unless it is really extreme dark and you're shooting moving subject. Color are great on daylight and super macro is one of the best features in TG-2. The only thing I would complain are the image are slightly soft with mushy details, dislike OLED screen, 'tap control' feature can be annoying sometime when accidentally tap it, no multi point for AF and lack of rear flash mode.

The Olympus TG-2 can starts up in less than a second, focuses extremely quickly even in low light and has minimal delays between shots. Photo quality isn't fantastic but it's more than good enough for purpose and target audience. At low ISOs, both luminance noise and detail smudging are noticeable though that's par for the course on compacts. Photos taken at sensitivities as high as ISO 800 are usable for most purposes, with the two highest settings saved for desperation only.
