Sunny Garden Restaurant @ PV128, Setapal

I know I have not been writing about foods in my blog for long. Heck, I don't even update my blog as much as I used to be. Life is busy. So do check out me on other social media k? :P

Nevertheless, this flashy signage has been grabbing my attention since last week. What's make ir worst was it was so flashy that I couldn't even read the shop name until today, when I decided to give it a try. So yea, Sunny Garden that located in PV128. I heard they have awesome Gyoza and seafood.

On quick look, the shop is selling authentic foods from china. It doesn't have any pork as well and the shop is Halal despite doesn't have any sign of Jakim cert. Surprisingly the manager is a Muslim from Beijing who speak mandarin with us.

So I ordered Mutton Kuan Xin Noodles and deary took the Spicy Minced Meat Vermicelli (Rice Noodles). I try to have a quick google of what is Kuan Xin noodle (宽心面) but it doesn't shown any result unless... I know Chinese LOL.. But yea with limited knowledge on chinese, I found that Kuan Xin noodle is made from bean and is popular mostly in Northen China area - Shānxī lǚliáng (山西吕梁) and Shǎn běi (陕北). Of course if you guys know more about this noodle, feel free to comment below :D

* Spicy Minced Meat Vermicelli RM10 *

The spiciness from this noodle was from pepper and it is slightly similar to bone soup. Oh did I mentioned it is beef? The meat is so soft that as if it melt on your mouth once it entered. It is awesome! The portion is too big for my deary too.

* Mutton Kuan Xin Noodle RM10 *

As for myself, the mutton has great texture and chewy too. The Kuan Xi Noodle (if the noodle is what I think it is) looks like a super thicker version than Pan Mee. It also looks like 刀削面 (knives sliced noodle), so I am not really sure which is it :P Nevertheless, it is awesome!

Too used to eating pork Gyoza and this time around this Gyoza is special for me since it has both beef and mutton. Not to mentioned the Gyoza is slightly juicy inside. Worth giving it a try since Rm15 for 16 pieces is not expensive. Unfortunately, this is the only portion they offered. Oh did I mentioned that you actually can mixed the Gyoza in your plate as long as it cost the same price?

More or less, I'll consider this shop as hidden gem. It just opened not long in here and I felt it has potential. The price is affordable, drinks are free and foods are authentic. Beside noodles, they have rice too or you can try order dishes too.

Penang Bridge International Marathon 2014 Diary

* 21KM finisher! *

Hola! I survived another marathon! This probably my first and last marathon for this year haha.. I am getting lazy and lazier to train.. well main reason was lazy, second is no one run with me. Decided to join Penang Bridge Marathon again once Ken said he is joining. We travel to Penang together again this year with addition of Kim Hong & Kok Jing. Ok la not so gay at least. This also marked my first time running 21KM in life!

As usual, when the marathon is at Penang, EAT first RUN later is our objective. We went on Friday evening so that we can has extra day to rest and also extra day to eat without rushing our ass! The first stop for our dinner on Friday was Duck Char Koey Teow at bukit mertajam! Super awesome CKT! Nothing beat this lorrrrrr!!

I also managed to found a place that have awesome Hokkien Mee (Prawn Mee)! Not sure the shop name but it is located nearby the duck CKT, behind the temple food court look alike. The soup is really something in KL couldn't find.

Done our dinner on Friday night, we went to our hotel at Tune to called for the night. On next morning, I had Pasembur at the New World food court that located beside Tune Hotel. Not bad but I think I'll prefer the uncle rojak near my house anytime for the sauce.

Next, another CKT hunt! Went for sister CKt at Jalan Mecalista for the first time (I heard they had bad attitude hence I am avoiding this place). To be honest it is not the best CKT in Penang but it has good wok hei. Something in KL CKT seriously lacked of.

Not to forget Uncle Goggle CKT again at Lorong Selamat. Waited 45 min for the CKT and as usual, I love the way it spicy! Also the Oyster Egg! Yum yum.

Wanted to go for second try on Uncle CKT at Siam Road (The one i had last year seriously lacking of wok hei) but we have been queue for more than 1.5 hours and the queue did not progress much. Since the time is getting near to dinner time, we decided to leave the queue and went to Tian Lai Restaurant instead for Dayumm Burger! Yes they have shifted to this food court instead (thanks god I checked their FB before go there). As usual, awesome pork burger and pork ball!! Kok Jing & Kim Hong who tried for first time also impressed the burger. Literally shouted Dayummmmmmmmmm!

Annddd we are back to hotel again after heavy dinner and carbo loading. Have only about 4 hours to sleep before begin the run on 3am! Guess I am more matured now. Though my first time run 21KM, I did not rant! I did not ask why do I even join the run. Probably in my heart already died for the question and just DO IT spirit embedded in me. Though the result is not satisfying, but I am happy I managed complete the run! a big pat for myself :D

Done our run, we quickly run back to hotel to have quick nap before check out from hotel. After done checked out, we went for lunch around Penang and later on head back to KL. We tried 67 Coffee Mansion that located near Lorong Susu out of curious because we been seeing it too many time when pass by the road.

From some blog review, they served quite awesome pork dishes. Have no chance to tried because we ate Sister CKT again before coming here. Hence, we just had coffee & tea to chill around before back to KL. Ken ordered Carbonara with Bacon for sharing. Taste quite good! Probably I'll be here back again to try their pork when I am coming to Penang again.

Overall, fruitful journey at Penang. Leg was pretty pain on the day itself until Tuesday. Today feel much better except right foot. At least things better than I expected. 21KM! One of the achievement I should be proud in my life LOL

Goku Raku Ramen review @ Mid Valley Megamall

Ok this has been a serious delayed post. Apologize! Life still as shitty as usual for me. But hey, thanks God for the good foods around, I am back with hope *queue dramatic song* LOL.. Anyway, went for Goku Raku Ramen review last few weeks and for the first time I am being camera-less. Not bringing any gear with me due to some circumstances and I knew I shouldn't be heading home to grab my gears with the jam condition. Hence, I just went for the review with my one and trustworthy Sony Xperia Z1 as my main shooter.

So yea Goku Raku Ramen. Been knowing about this shop since the existence of Paradigm Mall but I have yet go to try. I am abit choosy when come to ramen eventhough I am not a huge fans of it because I have to make sure it is really worth a visit for me to pay and eat. But I guess my perspective changed after I tried Goku Raku Ramen. It is located at North Court, Mid Valley Megamall.

* Shanghai Fried Ramen RM13.90 *

The first thing came to our table is the Shanghai Fried Ramen. Yea, ramen with fried. It look kinda like hot plate yee mee to me. Personally I found nothing much to shout on this ramen. The plate is full with veggie and the portion of minced meat was too little for my likey. I admit I am a omnomnomnomvour. Oh be sure to toss the noodle around so that you get evenly sauce on it.

* Ebi Gyoza RM10.90 *

Gyoza! My favourite Japanese food! As much as I love how it taste, the prawn is too small in the dumpling.

* GRR Meatballs RM5 (5 pcs) / RM 9 (10 pcs) / RM17 (20 pcs) *

For the first time I was introduces by japanese meatball. It came with sweet and sour sauce. I took a first bite on it and I felt mix feeling on it. The skin itself is crunchy however the meat inside are soft, not compact enough. Too soft for my liking. But I guess it make it easy to chew and suitable to eat for everyone on difference age range, I guess again.

* 5 Star Aburi Char Siew Ramen RM25.90 regular *

Finally the star of the night. A good ramen has been always come with great pork broth soup and also thick and awesome char siu! Beside Ippudo, Goku Raku char siu is one of the best I ever had. The soup is not too salty as well and the flavour are well done. This what made my perspective of Goku Raku Ramen change. I'll be back again for the same ramen!

Lastly, we are served with Chef’s Specialty Course Meal; Set C which cost RM119.90 which come with 13 items:

The set are good to go with three to four person and it is totally worth it. The set has little fusion with chinese style but overall, it is very satisfactory.

Signature Cafearo by Yves @ 1 Shamelin Shopping Mall Review

Didn't know there was a new shopping mall opened recently at Taman Shamelin. But if you're staying nearby, you'll locate this hidden gem called Signature Cafearo by Yves. It is a cafe that came with awesome american breakfast and also some fusion asian foods. Not to mentioned mouth watering dessert. If you're curious, the cafe is located right next to Old Town. Check out their Facebook Page for more info.

Unfortunately I wasn't feeling well and need to skip the dessert. It really look goods! Girl like it right? right?

* Vast Ocean Salmon Salad RM 15.90 *

Just-the-right-salad-portion together with huge flower shaped salmon! Mix it together with the sauce are highly recommended and definitely not disappointing. Great started before we move on to main course.

* Smoke Salmon & Spinach Quiche RM 15.90 *

One of the signature dish from Cafearo. I am huge fans of smoked food and I wont deny that I will like this. The combination of spinach and smoked salmon just perfect.

* Soft Shell Crab Mustard Mayo Wrap RM 13.90 *

It doesn't look like soft shell crab at all on first glance! I was hoping it is some awesome pork meat... But nevertheless, unlike japanese Temaki, Cafearo wrapped it with vegetables and topped mayo. It is worth to mentioned that the soft shell crab wasn't fried like the one we had at japanese restaurant.

* Oceanic Secret Night RM 18.90 *

Another salmon fusion dish. While I think it is nothing new in the market, but they did it pretty well and tasty. The only thing I might hate would be the pasta a little too dry.

* Smoked Duck Pesto Fettuccine RM 17.90 *

Smoked duck! Hell yes! You all probably know beside pork, I am huge fans of duck too! The smoked duck was being well made and not too overly salty. Then again, the pesto fettucino pasta was abit too dry. Probably it is only me who prefer my pasta to be oily abit.

* Soft Shell Crab and Ham Cheese Baked Eggs Rice RM 19.90 *

Nothing new on the combination between cheese, egg and rice but topping it with soft shell crab are difference story. This will be my first time trying none fried soft shell crab and I gotta said I don't really appreciated it. Probably because I am pure meat person and not seafood. But based on others comment, it seem this is one of the highly recommended dish for soft shell crab lover. Plus, Signature Cafearo seem very generous in giving the soft shell crab portion. On ah!

* Roasted Mushroom Soup RM 8.90 *

Nothing beat mushroom soup,nothing! Especially the thick one with alot mushroon chunk inside!

Overall a very satisfying lunch and experience dining in Signature Cafearo. I would love to return here someday for their dessert! Rawrrr
