The Host Movie

Thanks to Nuffnang for the movie screen yesterday. Not interested to watch at first but since I am joining yesterday Lotus convoy, so why not? Will blog about that tomorrow :P

An alien invader inhabits a captured human in an attempt to locate the last surviving free humans on Earth.

I have enough of twilight movie and this is definitely better than Twilight. Well not until the last part look pretty meh to me. To be honest pretty interesting concept. At least the alien come in peace, no blood driped.. just my assumption since they never bother to explain where and how the alien come and invaded the earth.

Nothing to shout on character performances. Not excellent not too bad too. Just plain emotion on Saoirse Ronan (Melanie) and her inner voice. Storyline pretty slow, draggy, lack of romance. Seriously I dunno what Genre to put for this movie. It doesnt even have the basic movie movie graph it suppose to have - I mean climax.

Overall, interesting movie but badly plan. At least, it is much better than twilight.

Dining in The Dark with Simplot

Been delay this post for quite some time. Really feel sorry for Sharon. Anyway, thanks to her I am given chance to Dining in The Dark with Simplot. Confuse? Dining in The Dark is the place name and Simplot is actually the brand that plant potato, cut it short - They make awesome hashbrown and other products from potatoes. The Hashbrown you ate at Mc Donald breakfast are by Simplot!

So what's the relation of this two? Well Simplot actually gave their popcorn hashbrown to the Dining in The Dark chef for them to do something on it and invited few media for this dining session at there. Geddit? Geddit? It gonna be my first time fining in the darkness where my sight sense gone for real. I can only depend on hearing, smelling and touching. Alright cut the crap short, here are what it feel like dining in the dark.

* We are toasting for a drink *
* Here are some ice breaking session *
* One of the guy caught didn't wear pant *

See everything is pitch black! Ok just kidding. Actually no phone and camera allowed in the room at all. So use ur imagination ok? Honestly during the whole dining session I am half half confidnet what am I eating. Guessing the plate shape and where the food are scatter around on it already hard enough. Have to keep using fork to poke poke to check is there any leftover food LOL Nevertheless, here are actually what I ate that day :)

Kelantan Delights Review

Have you ever try Kelantan specialty before? Nop not for me. Don't even have chance to step my feet to Kelantan itself. But fear not, I am not asking you go Kelantan all the way to eat. Fortunately, Kelantan Delights offer authentic Kelantanese foods and the restaurant itself located at Sooka Central.

It is pretty near KL Central. Just take the Putra LRT and you will reach there easily. Don't really like to drive and park there since the parking pretty limited and dumb looking. Anyway, thanks to Nuffnang for the invites, I am given chance to taste the real Kelantan foods with other bloggers.

We started off with two appetizer.

* Tomyam Kelapa Muda *
* Close up shot *

Like the name suggested, Tomyam Kelapa Muda is made by tomyam soup, fresh prawn and also coconut meat. The Tomyam wasn't spicy and it is bearable to finish drinking it. Well that's what you should do if you're Tomyam fans. Don't be surprise with Tomyam in Kelantan because Kelantan was pretty heavy get Thai influence.

* Sirih Daun Kaduk *

Sirih Daun Kaduk looks like a giant fried Wan Tan to me. It is made by popiah skin, daun sirih, ginger, cili padi, onion, roasted coconut, roasted peanuts, dried shrimp and their very own special sauce. Don't like the daun risih taste, guess I am not vege afterall. Other than that, all the ingredients mixed up together and created a unique flavor which I can't tell exactly what it is.

Soon we are served with four main course. I tried two out of them and another two taken by le gf.

* Nasi Kerabu Ayam Percik *

Nasi Kerabu Ayam Percik gonna be my favourite dish. It made by ayam percik, ulam (bean sprouts, cucumber, daum selom), salted egg and also keropok ikan. The rice itself is very nice and with sambal, it is superb! Unfortunately, the Ayam Percik is abit dry and meat not tender enough.

* Nasi Dagang Gulai Ikan *

Nasi Dagang Gulai Ikan contains nasi dagang, gulai ikan tongkol, acar timun and egg. Tried abit from le gf and not my favourite since the rice is too dry. The fish wasn't my type of fish either.

* Fried Chicken *
* Nasi Tumpang *

Nasi tumpang is Kelantan traditional dish for traveller. It is a dish where the rice packed in a cone-shaped banana leaf and it consist an omelette, meat floss, chicken and/or shrimp curry and sweet gravy. In our case, it come with egg, chicken floss, prawn sambal, gulai ikan tongkol and fried chicken.

* Laksam *
* Thick noodle *

Just like the name suggested, Laksam is very close to Laksa but the curry is white color and less spicy. Inside there got egg, ulam (bean sprouts, cucumber, daun selom), lemongrass, chicken floss, sambal belacan and gravy (fish + santan). It is actually a Terengganu dish.

Finally is dessert time. Wise man always said, there are always a space for dessert.

* Lompat Tikam *

Lompat tikam is a mixture of rice cake (pandan), pulut merah, santan and gula Melaka. It known as Lompat Tikam (jump and stab) maybe because you have to stab the rice cake and jump it over the gula melaka for the sauce. You need to mix it with the santan and gula melaka anyway or else it is pretty tasteless.

* Ketupat Sotong *

Ketupat sotong is made by a squid, glutinous rice, santan, gula Melaka, ginger and pandan. I like this most! It is sweet thanks to the gula melaka. Not to mention it is nice to chew when you actually put the whole thing inside your mouth :P

Overall, awesome experience with Kelantan foods as I learn abit their lifestyle and also tradition. Of course, one of the main reason is I throw away my Sejarah, Geography and Kajian Tempatan already. Thanks Nuffnang for the invites again :)

S'mores @ The Sphere

Saw a very affordable and tempting offer at groupon, immediately I asked few of friends from Porky Rocky group chat from whatsapp to join me dinner. It is a Pork Platter + Tiger Beer for up to 8 People at for RM130 only deal! So yea, the meal was nothing but just pork.

First time discovered S'more and it was located at The Sphere, Jalan Kerinchi. It is easy to spot once you turn into Jalan Kerinchi and drive straight. First impression to S'more interior, it is just nice place for leisure dining with friends and family. Not over-dim lighting is perfect too (yea i got bad eye sight).

Here are the menu of our foods.

Unfortunately only 4 tiger beers for 8 people, dafuq

And here, all our foods are served in one plate.

The portion look very little for all of us big eaters actually. Shall buy 2 deal instead sigh but then again, looking all the pork it is obviously very sinful. So that ourself feel better, 8 of us just finished up the whole plate. Maybe it will just nice if each of us got some rice or noodle to company.

* Pork Knuckle *

Pork Knuckle is pretty dry and quite alot of fat underneath the skin. Need the dip in the sauce to eat or else I really dunno how to chew the meat. However, it wasn't taste that bad except the meat lacked of some tenderness.

* Pork Ribs *

Pork ribs was ok but not big and meaty enough. Such a waste sigh

* Potato Salad & Pork Belly at the back *

Nothing to shout on the potato salad. It taste just nice. Meanwhile the Pork Belly is awesomely oily and fat. Super sinful to eat it.

* Three Sausages *

They are three types of german sausages but I have no idea which 1 is which. To be fair, three of them taste good. Better if dip with the sauces.

Finish up the meal, manage to stay there for few hours before we decided to call it a day. I think it is pretty nice place to dining. Shall bring my gf here again next time to try other stuff :)
