Seefood and John Carter Movie

Manage to catch up 2 movies in a day today! Both movie that i have been anticipating since last year, Seefood and John Carter.

Come join Pup and Julius, on a fun-filled adventure to a place filled with colorful characters and unending mystery - land! When poacher steal dozens of egg sacks from Pup's reef, he make it his mission to save his brothers and sisters no matter how impossible the task may seem. His determination to make right what is wrong takes him above water, into Man's world - a landscape frought with beauty and danger - an exciting destination the young bamboo shark could never ever have imagined! Afraid for Pup's safety, Julius embarks on his own quest to bring home his best pal. In an outlandish 'fish-suit', you will believe a shark can walk on land in his thrill-a-minute action, laugh out loud comedy, great for the entire family!

What can i say. I am very proud since this is pretty much 2nd local 3D animation production after Upin and Ipin. From the trailer it already look promising (except the very obvious, screw up audio). Before watch the movie everyone already told me it sucks. My point of view? yea is sucks.

Rendering pretty screw up. All the fishes rendering look pretty plasticky, specular map too big to be technical. Animation pretty normal, decent. I mean, we been watching PIXAR and Dreamwork masterpiece every year and compare to them, this is nothing. The animation, movement, character performance pretty plain and no exaggeration like PIXAR and Dreamwork.

Bad animation, bad rendering, ok i still can accept it. The only thing no excuse for me are the storyline and sound. Seefood failed to delivered both of this. Storyline pretty plain, draggy and bored. Sound is pretty sucks, doesnt blend well and give the appropriate mood. The only thing I appreciated from this movie is the character modeling.

Perhaps kids will like it. For us who grow up watching PIXAR and Dreamwork animation hardly accept it. But nevertheless, this is huge leap for Malaysia to continue produce 3D Animation. I believe they need more man power and budget, maybe.

Next movie is John Carter!

JOHN CARTER OF MARS brings this captivating hero to the big screen in a stunning adventure epic set on the wounded planet of Mars, a world inhabited by warrior tribes and exotic desert beings. Based on the first of Edgar Rice Burroughs' "Barsoom Series," the film chronicles the journey of Civil-War veteran John Carter (TAYLOR KITSCH), who finds himself battling a new and mysterious war amidst a host of strange Martian inhabitants, including Tars Tarkas (WILLEM DAFOE) and Dejah Thoris (LYNN COLLINS).

Pretty interesting storyline and concept. Visual art, matte painting, modeling, texture all are perfect and up to disney production quality. Looking on those setting and environment remind me alot star wars and some final fantasy.

However, the movie is pretty draggy in certain part actually. Some are speed up quite fast especially towards the ending. I wish they could explain more about Tharks tribe too especially the baby born thingy. Same goes to the 9th ray which doesnt speak much of it except being a powerful ray that can destroy this and that.

Catch up John Carter at cinema if you love fantasy style movie ;)
