Pacific Rim 3D Premier Screening

Courtesy to Nuffnang, I am invited to watch Pacific Rim Premier Screening in 3D!

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) — who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

There are mixture of love and hate in this movie. Do note that I grown up watching robot, superheroes, kaijin and Kaiju aka all from Ultraman, Super Sentai (Power Ranger), Garo and also Kamen Rider. Thus, I did not expect much from Pacific Rim. Despite I lower my expectation, I still felt I already know how this story coming and the battle been since I already watch too much such show. I do agree the CGi of Kaiju and Jaeger are impressive. The texture and modeling is awesome. However, the movie definitely suffer from crappy storyline.

Main character doesnt see suffer much from her brother lost instead, the main heroin the one suffer from her childhood nightmare. Bad character development and doesn't show how she can overcome her nightmare and fear. Dislike the main character monotone dialog, lack of expression and proper emotion. Robot VS kaiju happened too much on night time with fast moving camera, thus hard to catch up. Pretty hate the Gypsy Danger doesn't use the sword at the beginning. I do hate too the blue neon TRON alike on kaiju. Why must they have those light? LOL I actually been shouting in my heart whole movie "where the fuck is Ultraman!?"

Somehow, I found myself hardly enjoy it despite awesome battle between robot and kaiju. If you're seeking for those excitement, yea just go ahead and watch it! However the 3D doesn't seem do any justice to the movie. Beat me I don't hate the movie. Just couldn't feel any excitement. It is just me.

Star Trek Into Darkness 3D Premiere Screening

Courtesy to Churpchurp, I am invited to Star Trek Into Darkness Premiere Screening before it release in local cinema. Well, I am not a huge fans of Star Trek because I watch their series until lost track. However, it is a science fiction, I still went ahead and watch it :)

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Thumb up to the movie! I just realize it is first movie since back to 1982 there is a Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan LOL so expected to predict the whole movie is about how Khan get wrath on 2nd movie. Just kidding. Overall very entertaining, full with humors and not so exaggerated action. Awesome cast, awesome actors and actresses and awesome character development. CG wise has no complain. It is science, futuristic and space!

Get alot weird censorship and awkward cut during the whole movie. Just some awkward jump cut for no reason. Got nude scene ah?

Though Khan suppose it a superhuman, I just don't get it why he can't finish Spock immediately. It seem like he just running away instead of deliver a heavy blow to Spock, break his bone, squash his head. Vulcan got higher defense rate? LOL The story doesn't show what happen to Khan later on. Perhaps I should watch second movie to find out.

Star Trek geek! It is a must watch movie for you all :)

G.I. Joe: Retaliation (3D) Premiere Screening

Courtesy to Nuffnang I get to watch G.I. Joe: Retaliation (3D) Premiere Screening before it release in cinema. Yupz I watch it in 3D.

  • The G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.

Disclaimer : I never watch the first movie nor any comic/cartoon related. Thus I will be talking solely based on the movie itself only. I got to say it just another typical action movie. Storyline not engaging enough and character development pretty plain.

Straight forward no brainer storyline. The G.I Joe get ambushed and frame by governement, they wanna find out they truth and revenge, finally they win, main villain Cobra escape. Isn't too easy to sum up the story? Snake Eye use gun more than his blade at the end of the movie, General Joe Colton action too minor but the way the trailer and story plot make it as if he got big role and finally Roadblock who just so-so character performance. I like Firefly though.

Visual effect is awesome but forgetable. Explosion here and there which commonly seen in Expandable 2. Overall, nth impressive.

Watch in 3D? I dunno coz the GSC Tropicana Mall had pretty bad 3D visual. My eye hurt wearing the glasses that night and it doesn't have much depth.

Life of PI (3D) Movie

Been wanted to catch this movie before it release because i though "Hey Look! Pretty cool CG I must catch this!". Had some impromptu outing with deary on last Sunday and we finally get to catch this movie in GSC IMAXX. After watch the movie, it is not about CG that make me feel this movie is worth paying for..it is about the story and message inside this movie. Thumb up for this movie! It makes me feel like grab the book and read.

Based upon the bestselling book by Yann Martel, LIFE OF PI tells the story of a young man's incredible survival at sea against impossible odds. A remarkable technological breakthrough in 3D epic adventure, PI is an emotionally captivating experience that will inspire, touch and transport audiences to a place of discovery that they will never forget.

I dunno where should I start OMG. This movie is just completely perfect that I had no complain. Alright let's start from the 3D since I am catching it in GSC IMAXX. Well, not much eye popping 3D effect to be honest but I guess it is still recommended to catch it in IMAXX in 2D maybe? You have no idea how awesome it is to view it in big screen ;)

Next CG? Totally awesome and beautiful. All animals CG is believable. I catch up their behind the scene and the making and get to know Richard Parker (The Tiger) contain 10 million fur..Ohmai 10 mil fur is like need render for dunno how many weeks per frame if using my cacat PC.

The story, the scene and flow are well composed. Gotta give a thumb up to Ang Lee for being awesome director. Though some scene seem like just to show the beautiness of CG, but it actually contain some message inside. You had to be pretty observant to realize that.

Overall, it is great movie. A movie that leave alot doubt and discussion for people who really understand the whole movie. Just like PI told the reporter, it has 2 difference story. Depend which you believe which it reflect your own belief. A very meaningful movie indeed and I gotta grab the novel to read!

Frankenweenie 3D Premier Screening

Courtesy to Nuffnang I get to watch Frankenweenie premier screening before it release in cinema.

From creative genius Tim Burton ("Alice in Wonderland," The Nightmare Before Christmas") comes "Frankenweenie," a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life-with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new "leash on life" can be monstrous.

Another awesome stop motion animation this year! I totally have no idea it was a remade from old movie, Vincent & Frankenweenie, live action short film. Overall, thumb up to the smoothness and awesome motion. The only thing I dislike was the pointless 3D glasses that I wore.

Overall, simple and straight forward story. Plus, I love the way Tim Burton establish the relationship between Victor and Sparky. Not much facial expression from most character except, I love the science teacher facial. Sparky character is the most outstanding and cheerful of course throughout the whole movie.

Just like the live action, happy ending in the end when everyone though Sparky will never come back and even Victor said he don't need to come back anymore. Yes, that moment is very touchy and at the instant it has become happy ending..where I actually wished Sparky really gone for sure.

Not much comedy but some dark humours. Catch this in cinema this Thursday ;)

Sadako 3D Premier Screening

Courtesy to Nuffnang, I get to watch Sadako in 3D before it release in ciname. Not to mention, the screening took place at GSC, Paradigm Mall. Finally been to this "magic" mall for the first time.

Akane is a high school teacher who hears a rumor from her students that there is actual footage on the Internet of someone's suicide. The footage is said to drive anyone who sees it to also commit suicide. Akane does not believe the rumor at first, but when one of her female students dies after viewing the footage, she and her boyfriend Takanori are fatefully drawn into the horror that has been created by the man who appears in the suicide footage, Kashiwada.Kashiwada's intention is to create chaos in the world by bringing back Sadako and the power of her curse. Now Akane has to fight against Sadako and Kashiwada to save the lives of herself and Takanori

I don't always watch Japanese movie unless there is my favourite cast inside. In this movie, Koji Seto (Kurenai Wataru/Kamen Rider Kiva) and Yusuke Yamamoto (Kamishiro Tsurugi/Kamen Rider Sasword) is my fav cast, since both of them are KAMEN RIDER! :P

Storyline pretty direct and expected. Not to mention alot loophole. A horror movie from the beginning suddenly turn to action science fic where those mutated ghost or whatever you called, resemble Zombie from Resident Evil. Akane have the physic power to scream and make all the mirror/glasses shattered, but why not the iPhone?? Not to mention the ghost, Sadako died instantly when the iPhone destroyed.

Overall, I think yes it is pretty scary since everyone who sat same row with me was screaming and shaking all the time. Throughout the whole movie, I keep having this though.... KOJI SETO! WHY YOU NO HENSHIN! WHERE IS KIVAT!! Lol can't help it! Once he is a Kamen Rider, he is forever Rider!

Of course, I don't feel it as good as previous Ring movie. Catch this in cinema with 3D coz the effect quite good especially when the hand and hair come out. There is a after credit scene which kinda pointless.
