Pacific Rim 3D Premier Screening

Courtesy to Nuffnang, I am invited to watch Pacific Rim Premier Screening in 3D!
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) — who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
There are mixture of love and hate in this movie. Do note that I grown up watching robot, superheroes, kaijin and Kaiju aka all from Ultraman, Super Sentai (Power Ranger), Garo and also Kamen Rider. Thus, I did not expect much from Pacific Rim. Despite I lower my expectation, I still felt I already know how this story coming and the battle been since I already watch too much such show. I do agree the CGi of Kaiju and Jaeger are impressive. The texture and modeling is awesome. However, the movie definitely suffer from crappy storyline.

Main character doesnt see suffer much from her brother lost instead, the main heroin the one suffer from her childhood nightmare. Bad character development and doesn't show how she can overcome her nightmare and fear. Dislike the main character monotone dialog, lack of expression and proper emotion. Robot VS kaiju happened too much on night time with fast moving camera, thus hard to catch up. Pretty hate the Gypsy Danger doesn't use the sword at the beginning. I do hate too the blue neon TRON alike on kaiju. Why must they have those light? LOL I actually been shouting in my heart whole movie "where the fuck is Ultraman!?"

Somehow, I found myself hardly enjoy it despite awesome battle between robot and kaiju. If you're seeking for those excitement, yea just go ahead and watch it! However the 3D doesn't seem do any justice to the movie. Beat me I don't hate the movie. Just couldn't feel any excitement. It is just me.

Man Of Steel 3D IMAX Movie

Finally get to watch Man Of Steel! A long awaiting movie since the beginning of the year :D Not to mention it is my first time pay a visit to TGV IMAX. Too bad the movie not worth to watch in 3D at all. Lack of depth and somehow the sound system (commented by Ken) abit screw up and jumble around.
A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.
I mentioned in twitter last night it was AWESOME. Well at least it is good enough for me though I felt it could be better. Alot scene, emotion and story telling can be improve, can be more depth and can be more engaging to the audience. However, I am not saying it suppose to be dark and emo like Batman/Dark Knight. Superman not suppose to be some emo felor. Nevertheless, Superman is one of my favourite super hero since last time and I am glad the movie get reboot to suite current audience taste.

I like the flash back of Clark Kent. I like the way he struggle using his power. I like his father advice especially after he save those kids from the bus. He asked his father "so what I let them die?" and the dad answer "Maybe.." and then goes to another event where Clark abit rebellious during his teenage. I felt the rebellious not impactful enough if to compare with Peter Parker (Spiderman) with Uncle Ben. Very soon, his father die due to tornado and I cried a little when Clark Kent said he trust his father and he not using his power. His father ask himw ait and told him it is not the time yet before he get blew away by tornado. Seriously, I love this flash back. The only thing I dislike is the relationship between Clark Kent & Louis Lane went way too fast. I prefer they spend more time developed them.

Action packed was alright. Watching Superman VS Zod is like watching Dragonball. You know the part when Bezita (Vegeta) came and tried to kill Goku (Kakaroct). How I wish Zod character and facial could be more wicked and evil. The part where Zod requesting the earthling to surrender Kal-el (Clark Kent) to them, for some unknown reason Zod asked Louis Lane aboard as well. After forced to snapped the Zod neck, Superman was regret because he had to kill one of his kind. But did he regret with all the destruction and confirm cause alot casualties during his fight? It wasn't shown in the movie. They didn't even mentioned what's public opinion towards Superman. The movie just ended with Clark Kent enter Daily Planet to work as reporter but in fact it is d best way for him to disguise and blend in. A job that no one will suspect if he disappear to dangerous scene.

Overall, nice film with abit flaw here and there. It could easily be one of the best Superman movie for me. Too bad they no longer use the phrase "Is a bird, is a plane! No, is SUPERMAN!".

Epic Movie

It has been time since I purchase my own movie ticket and have a dating with gf on weekend. Decided to catch Epic movie since I been wanting to watch it after saw the trailer early this year.
EPIC is a 3D animated fantasy adventure that reveals a hidden world unlike any other. From the creators of ICE AGE and RIO, EPIC tells the story of an ongoing battle deep in the forest between the forces of good who keep the natural world alive and the forces of evil who wish to destroy it. When a teen age girl finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she must band together with a rag-tag team of fun and whimsical characters in order to save their world…and ours.
Nothing fresh on the story line. Same goes to the visual art though it is very impressive however almost similar thing has been seen at Rio movie. However I still enjoyed and impressed with it especially the beautiness of the forest.

While my gf found out that the lack of smooth character animation, I think it just because they aren't same style with PIXAR or Dreamwork. I do admit they look abit not lively but I can live with that. I have no complain on their animal animation though. It is nice especially the dog, Ozzy :D

One of the thing doesn't satisfy me was how MK father know the read thumbtack is a info left by MK? He was fainted when MK put it on the map. I would rather the director make the father feel curious about it than suddenly said "MK!?" which indicated he knew it was from MK.

Overall, still enjoyable movie especially the joke from both snail and slut. But I still think the movie not as epic as the title itself.

Fast & Furious 6 Premier Screening

Courtesy of Nuffnang, I get to watch Fast & Furious 6 Premier Screening before it release on cinema.
Agent Hobbs enlists the aid of Dom and team to help bring a rival gang, led by Owen Shaw, to justice. In exchange for clear records, they must put an end to their schemes, no matter how personal the cost. Building on the worldwide blockbuster success of Fast Five and taking the action, stunts and narrative to even greater heights, Fast & Furious 6 sees director Justin Lin back behind the camera for the fourth time.
Only in Fast & Furious series, you get to see all the "Fuck physic" thingy. A car weight who manage to flip a tank, human who can fly by using the impact of the car then get pull back by another force, a woman who can still stand and fight after being hit by car that speeding probably 180km/h and the list go on. Though alot fuck the physic scene, deep in our heard still WOW looking on those cinematography. It just the matter you're watching the movie with your heart or your brain, your logic or your fantasy.

Nevertheless, I think I prefer previous installment. The car racing scene and the climax are much better than this installment. Not to complain but I always hate movie climax happen on night. Too hard to capture the detail and it always turn me off ;( Sadly they decided to kill off 2 character easily.. Han and Gisele..aww the hottest chick in the team died T.T with a very WTF way..

Alright F&F fans should know Han died in the Tokyo Street. The F&F6 is event before Tokyo Street and later on, on post credit it shown Han racing again in Tokyo Street and get hit by someone car who reveal is Jason Statham (yea every1 like WTF why is he inside?). So expecting next sequel Jason Statham as villain and maybe we could see some main cast from Tokyo Drift return as well.

Nevertheless, the movie will be on cinema this Thursday!

Star Trek Into Darkness 3D Premiere Screening

Courtesy to Churpchurp, I am invited to Star Trek Into Darkness Premiere Screening before it release in local cinema. Well, I am not a huge fans of Star Trek because I watch their series until lost track. However, it is a science fiction, I still went ahead and watch it :)
When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
Thumb up to the movie! I just realize it is first movie since back to 1982 there is a Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan LOL so expected to predict the whole movie is about how Khan get wrath on 2nd movie. Just kidding. Overall very entertaining, full with humors and not so exaggerated action. Awesome cast, awesome actors and actresses and awesome character development. CG wise has no complain. It is science, futuristic and space!

Get alot weird censorship and awkward cut during the whole movie. Just some awkward jump cut for no reason. Got nude scene ah?

Though Khan suppose it a superhuman, I just don't get it why he can't finish Spock immediately. It seem like he just running away instead of deliver a heavy blow to Spock, break his bone, squash his head. Vulcan got higher defense rate? LOL The story doesn't show what happen to Khan later on. Perhaps I should watch second movie to find out.

Star Trek geek! It is a must watch movie for you all :)

Iron Man 3 Premier Screening

Courtesy to Nuffnang, I get to watch Iron Man 3 Premier Screening last night. Like finally! A movie I have been anticipating. Not because the movie itself but because of Robert Downey Jr character as Tony Stark who never been bored.
Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

For a quick conclusion, Iron Man 3 not that awesome but still enjoyable and leave you WOW for a moment. Just disappointed on the weak villain. As a fans of Iron Man, I do research abit on the comic character itself and pretty disappointed with the difference compare with the movie. Of course they couldn't follow the comic 100% because in comic, Marvel's is a very big universe that lead to alot arcs and also superheroes. Still, thumb up to Shane Black for the Iron Man 3.

What's difference compare the Iron man 3 with the comic? Well for starter, Iron Patriot is not a repaint version of War Machine. Iron Patriot is a stand alone character, real identity is Norman Osborn who later establish Dark Avenger (I wish this could be make into movie..). Mandarin supposingly has 10 ring which come with difference magic power but unfortunately those ring does nothing int he movie. The mandarin itself is an loser as well. Aldrich Killian is just a scientist in comic who developed Extremis with Maya Hansen and later suicide instead of becoming one of the immortal soldier like in movie and claim himself is Mandarin.

Alright back to story. I pretty like the story that focus alot on Tony Stark and Pepper Potts development. Well Pepper Potts got bigger role in this movie and also the relationship between her and Tony was well display. Not much Iron Man suit action until the end of the final battle (you know you all will orgasm looking all Tony Stark Iron Suit controlled by Jarvis). Love it how Tony handle and go to action without his suit. Guess that answer him whether does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man. Sadly James Rhodes/War Machine/Iron Patriot doesn't play much important role in the movie. Such a waste of paint on Iron Patriot.

Robert Downey Jr contract with Marvel is end. But of course, he will return in The Avenger 2 or maybe a little bit in The Galaxy Guardian? How about Iron Man 4? Who know. Definitely a worth watching movie! So fans, complete ur Iron Man trilogy now at cinema ;) I am waiting for Thor : The Dark World next!
