Olympus OM-D E-M 10 Mark II Hands On Review

As you all know, Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II just recently launched to the world and stock already available in our local shore. Whacking RM 3399 (with 14-42mm EZ lens) and RM 2699 (body only) retails price, this beast is something shouldn't been overlook by fans of small but powerful system camera. Here my hands on review video of the camera.

I am still trying my best to run my Dygadget channel, so please support more ok? Any constructive comment to improve our video in future are always welcomed :)

Notice I did not mentioned anything about image quality on the camera? For me I felt Olympus image quality is no longer questionable. Plus, a tonnes of review and comparison are available out there. Our Dygadget channel aim for simple review that even layman would understand what does it mean. But of course you're always welcome to asked me more about the camera by commenting the video :)

Sadly I only have a short terms moment with the OM-D EM-10 II. There are stuff I wish to used more to proof is it relevant to use such as the S-OVF and also AF TArgetting Pad.

Olympus 7-14mm f2.8 @ Petaling Street

If I only limit myself bringing 2 lenses to travel or everywhere I want, an Ultra Wide Angle lens is on the list for sure. Another one probably 45mm f1.8 will be cool. Yes I used to have an Ultra Wide Anle lens, Panasonic 7-14mm f4. But I sold it not long after my Hong Kong trip due to unable to meet my expectation. Don't get me wrong, the lens is excellent and I love it so much! It just failed me on low light with the 90% rate on unable to focus. Well, those day when I still using Olympus E-P3.

A day out with Xiaomi Yi Camera

So, I got something new for myself. Something completely new and strange to me. Yes, an action camera! Not GoPro, but Xiaomi Yi Camera. It cost only 399 CNY (around $64) which about 1/3 of GoPro price. So why not?

Budget Selfie camera, Casio EXILIM EX-MR1

Warning : This post contained a tones of my selfie photos. If you value your life, please proceed to click X mark. Just leave the traffic vuew, not comment ok? :P

Since few years back, Casio has become popular among everyone who love selfie thanks to the TR series camera. I gotta admit the camera design is pretty, unique and also attractive. Well not with the price point though. Later on, Casio released ZR series where the look of the camera look ordinary and nothing special. Last year, Casio decided to released another budget selfie camera under MR series. I felt the camera is another breakthrough in terms of design because it actually has a mirror on it!

Macro with Olympus STYLUS TG-3 Tough

Once upon a time, a noob known as Jackie Loi excitedly asked for macro shoot with his friends. The purpose of the shooting was to try out how well Olympus STYLUS TG-3 Tough performed in terms of macro. It is no surprise the high TG series is well known as rugged, tough, weathers sealed and also awesome macro shoot. If you seen my review on Olympus TG-2 previously, you shall easily guess that the TG-3 is much improved and much awesome camera.

Olympus E-PL 7 - Be Creative with Art Filters and Kit Lens

* My OOTD of the day with E-PL7 *

With technology are become more and more convenient, it is not surprise that camera nowdays also preload with a bunch of effect and filter for creative photos shooting purposes. As the matter of fact, Olympus has been offering such filters known as Art Filter since Olympus PEN E-P1 generation.

The Art Filters in Olympus is getting better, improved and also more choices over the years. On this weekend, I brought along Olympus E-PL7 and also kit lens (14-42mm f3.5-5.6 EZ) for outing at shopping mall. I just replicate the gear setup that most people who just buy a new camera because I believe alot beginner who haven'invest on lens will just rely on kit lens and use it on all occasion.

Here are the Art Filters available in Olympus E-PL7. Total of 14!

Personally this are few of my favourite - Pop Art, Grainy Film, Pin Hole, Diorama, Dramatic Tone, Vintage and Partial Color. The beauty of Olympus Art Filters doesn't stop there! Each of the Art Filters also come with few type choices allowing you to choose which is the best to apply on.

In addition, you can another layer of effect to your Art Filters to stack on top of it. For eg I can have Partial Color + Pin Hole effect!

Here are some Art Filters I used in shopping mall. I gotta admit this is not the best place to test but I just tried to challenged my own creativity. I shot with Art Filters before as well mostly focus on Vintage and Partial Color at this post. Art Filters definitely an awesome tools since it doesn't require the individual to do any post processing (all in camera process!), save time since it instantly process and what's more? you get to preview the effect LIVE right before shoot. Choose your favourite filters, snap and instantly share it via Wi-Fi to your social media!

As I mentioned earlier, I tried to replicate user who used Kit Lens on their camera, trying to experience it for myself. I gotta admit I have not been shooting with kit lens quite some time after acquired both Olympus 12mm f2 and also 45mm f1.8. But I do rely alot kit lens since my E-P3 era especially when come to shooting concert (Mind you Olympus hasn't has any reliable fast zoom lens during that time). You can check some of my recent photos using Olympus E-P3 and kits at here, here and here.

Optically, I am not sure is there any improvement on the new EZ kit. But it is worth mention that the new EZ kit lens is smaller than the IIR version (my E-P3 kit) and also maintaining the same filter thread size. In addition, the EZ kit was built in motorized zoom like the Olympus 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 lens. It is great for video recording where it provide a smooth zooming (like zooming it using normal point and shoot). You can also determine the zoom speed inside the camera setting.

Shooting in shopping mall is difficult with kit lens due to limited indoor light and also slow lens (well all kit lens do!). Due to this circumstances, it managed to push myself using higher ISO to shoot. Most of the photos below are shoot in between ISO 800, 1600 and also 6400.

As many people may forgotten, kit lens are actually a very capable lens. It might slow, but it does cover the focal length that most people needed. The sharpness for Olympus 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 EZ is proven not as weak as other Zuiko glasses. In a correct way and also lighting to shoot, the kit lens can be sharp too! Check out Robin post here where he challenge himself shooting with kit lens.

Last but not least a selfie with the camera and also 9mm f8 fish eye BLC. Olympus E-PL 7 is now available in retail price of RM 2,399 and come with 3 colors - White, Black and Silver.
