Vault Wine Bistro @ Glomac Damansara Review

Happy Chinese New Year!! Alright this month is really a season to feast together with your tummy. So hold your tummy and be patient to this post k? A little introduction of Vault - It is a wine bistro that specialties in Spanish and followed by a wide variety of wine from Italy, Australia, France and more. Match with awesome interior, lighting and also jazz music, you will feel comfortable to dine in.

A little quick info for you all. Since Valentine day is this week, Vault prepared 6 course dinner menu from 13th - 14th Feb. For only RM98++ per person - Sopa De Esparragos, Caviar Scallop, Shrimp Aglio e Olio, Smoked Dusk, Spanish Iberian, and Tiramisu Hazel Crust will be on your table. In addition, 3 wine/champagne are also selling at a promotion price. Personally I prefer they can alter the menu a little bit by allowing customer to have freedom switch some foods in the menu. Who know there are people who actually dislike Aglio Olio?

Unfortunately I am not given review on the valentine menu. Well at least I get to try some of their main course. Let's get started.

* Crispy Calamari RM 15 *

To kickoff the review, we are served with an appetizer, Crispy Calamari. Sadly the taste a little plain. le gf said mix it with little herbs and it will definitely be a boom.

* Roasted Pork Belly RM 16 *

Roasted Pork Belly pretty much look like siu yuk LOL.. nothing to shout on it. The taste is pretty decent and I do love the sauce they coated on the meat.

* Arugula Salad RM 16 *

With arugula, tomato, bacon bits and croutons mixture plus some oil (olive oil and some mixture of I not sure which it is), this salad is pretty perfect. Honestly I do like it especially when chew it together with bacon :P

* Fried Chicken Wing RM 16 *

Not the best fried chicken I ever had. The fried word doesn't do the justice to the skin since it wasn't crispy enough. Taste wise it is pretty plain. Definitely need to be improved.

* Seafood Marinara RM 28 *

Not a huge fans of pasta but this do very disappointed. The pasta was not fully cooked and the sauce wasn't rich in flavor like it suppose to be. I will spend my RM28 on better pasta on proper italy restaurant.

* Smoked Duck (Daily Special) *

This wasn't in the Ala Carte menu. Price wasn't even reveal to us, maybe not yet. Not really like smoked duck, still prefer awesome roasted duck. The meat was little dry to me and the slices are too thin. I barely can feel what am I chewing actually. Don't think it is perfect match with the sauce, mustard.

* Prawn & Scallop Aioli RM38 *

One of their main course (if I not mistaken). Didn't get to try it since they have limited ingredient to prepare to all of us and only half of us get to taste it. piff

* Marinated Pork Rib RM 48 *

Not the best pork rib I ever had. The meat it too dry and hard. Not salty too. The taste just too plain for my liking. The surface was pretty burn out too.

* Mix Sausage Platter RM38 *

The sausage came with Italian Sausage, Spicy Nungarian Sausage, Nuernberger Sausage, Chorizo Sausage and German Pepper Sausage. For god sake 5 sausages was share across 11 of us in the review and I don't even know which sausage is which. In other words I have no idea which Sausages I am eating and nop, not the best sausage I ever had also whichever it is.

So much potential yet it disappointed me. Most of the food was on average taste and doesn't exceeded my expectation. They don't have much varieties on sauce too since most are paired with mustard and also have mash potato (I think this is d best food on that night LOL). If only they could re-train their chef and make better than average food in their menu, I bet Vault easily could be one of the best wine bistro around the area. Of course if the Valentine menu could be cheaper and given flexibility to change the food in the menu, I wouldn't mind going there to celebrate my Valentine with my love one. But hey since it is per pax, maybe I could go alone.

Busy Life with a little bit here and there

I really have no time spend on my blog recently. Too busy with job and daily life. I spend minimum 3 hours stuck in jam daily weekday and 8 hours in office. That's totally took away my 11 hours life daily. I miss my student life. Too much responsibility and commitment to commit after being an adult. Nevertheless, life goes on and I will still try my best to update my blog as much and as update as possible.

Chinese New Year is coming too! Sadly I am too busy to prepare a new template for my blog. Plus I promises myself I will change the header (I am not happy with the current 1 honestly). Gotta do a proper TO DO LIST for myself and execute it accordingly. On other hand, I got my very first bonus pay from my job! Though not much but it does cover my coming soon HK expenses! teehee I cant wait July for my HK trip! I am very sure I will snap alot photos and eat alot of foods at there!

Talk about photography, I put some teaser regarding some of my photoshoot in my Facebook page. Yup, it is some casual photoshooting at Thean Hou temple with Sher Lynn being the model and Ken as one of the photographer with me. Honestly I would love to pick up back this skill though I know I rarely had opportunity to shoot model. I still prefer shooting performances and concerts. Anyone wanna hire me to be media for Mayday concert? :(

I bought a new lens too! Sadly the new lens supposingly to arrived on the day before my photoshoot with Sher Lynn and I really looking forward to use it. Too bad delivery got delayed thanks to Federal Holiday last Friday. Anyway, it is Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar T, 50mm f2.8 with 14 aperture blade. Awesome bokeh I tell you! I kinda dig into old lens recently and I don't really mind doing manual focus. No chance to use my new lens yet but hopefully opportunity coming soon.

Anyway, CNY next week! My journey will be on hiatus for a week since I won't be able to have fully access on internet when I am not around and I wanna enjoy my holiday without any worries. Of course, my Twitter and Instagram will be still available to stalked :P Here the video for you all, done by me using 2 days time for my company.

XIN NIAN KUAI LE! Whoever wanna bank in me ang pao do ask my bank number personally k?

Journey To The West: Conquering Demons (西游: 降魔篇) Premier Screening

Courtesy to Nuffnang, I am invited to watch Journey To The West: Conquering Demons (西游: 降魔篇) premier screening before it release in cinema.

Based on one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature of the same name, Stephen Chow's "Journey To The West" is a contemporary remake of the misadventures of a Buddhist monk as he makes a pilgrimage from China to India. The monk travelled to the "Western Regions" during the Tang Dynasty, to obtain sacred texts (sūtras). The bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara (Guanyin), on instruction from the Buddha, gives this task to the monk and his three protectors in the form of disciples - namely Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing - together with a dragon prince who acts as Xuanzang's steed, a white horse. These four characters have agreed to help Xuanzang as atonement for their past sins.

Well, first thing first I feel the title shouldn't be Journey To The West. When it mean that I expecting it really their journey to the west, fight for demon and get the bible at India. Unfortunately it is not and completely misleading including the summary that I get from GSC as well. The story are involved XuangZang life before he met his three discipline and goes for journey.

Anyway, with some twist here and there, this instalment are totally difference from the original story. The storyline are pretty straight forward and predictable. However no character development and it come with ridiculous mixture of Final Fantasy and Dragon Ball element inside. Alot people complain the CG sucks but it is still acceptable for me. Well china-ish CG if to be exact.

Whole movie pretty funny eventhough I feel, not as good as last time. But hey at least it manage release my stress after tired from working.

Honestly if it is not Stephen Chow production and from any china-kia work, I dont think I bother to take a look at it.

myElephant @ Seksyen 17

Who love myElephant! No not mine but myElephant. It is Thai based restaurant located at Seksyen 17. Went to have this nice dinner with Ken and Sher Lynn after some photoshoot section on Sunday evening. Yes the photo above is one of my teaser :P No she is not food. wipe your salive! Just put for the sake of attract you all come in and read my post :P

Nevertheless, we are too hungry after the shooting session and I am too busy to clean up my camera bag in the restaurant. Thus, I did not shoot the interior and the shop sign. However the shop was pretty packed and luckily we still managed get a seats.

* Brown rice yo *

We ordered 3 dishes and also 2 bowl of big rice.

* Gaeng Keow Wan RM19 - small *

Gaeng Keow Wan (Thai Green Curry with chicken) not really spicy but it is nice! The curry was very well cooked and really suitable for people who don't like extremely spicy stuff. The chicken meat inside the curry is very soft and easy to chew.

* Gaeng Phet Yaeng RM30 - small *

Gaeng Phet Yaeng (Roast Duck Curry with Lychee) was highly recommended by Ken. The curry is much spicier than the Green Curry Chicken earlier but still acceptable for me. The curry is very very nice! Same goes to the duck meat inside. It is very expensive but worth the a try since it taste good ;)

* Touhu Nung Si Yu RM15 *

Finally is Tauhu Nung Si Yu. It is steamed Tofu with Thai Soy Sauce, Lotus Root, Mushroom & Ginger. The touhu is very very smooth! The Thai soy sauce kinda remind me chu cheong fan soy sauce, the thick one. And this 1 is very salty. Still, thumb up for the great touhu!

The 3 dishes look small but it really kill 3 of our stomach. Maybe because we ordered extra bowl rice. Total damage RM101.75 for 3 of us. Expensive dinner but I feel worth it as long as the quality is there.

Snow world at Genting!!! I lost track when was my last time been here. Maybe when I as 6-7 years old. Nevertheless, I went to the Genting Snow World launch last week with deary. We are given complimentary passes too to play at theme park after the launch over! wee!

The interior doesnt seem change as far as I remember. I gotta admit it is very very cool! My nose doesn't seem to able to sense anything the whole time when inside. However I still able to took off my glove and use my camera to shoot the launch. Well, I hardly press any button on my camera with glove on ;(

We greeted by performances, magic show and greeting from Dato Kevin for the launch. I used Olympus OM 50mm f1.4 all the way and just figured out my manual focus skill sucks. Sigh not sure is the camera LCD screen tricked me or I suck.

For your information, there are few latest attraction in Snow World :

  • Winter Downtown and World Heritage Concept

Well, pictures time before we head out to warm ourself and cameras.

After done everything, we are brought to lunch at Coffee Terrace. Pretty cool fusion asian restaurant. Too bad no picture from me since my camera need time to get warm and free from all mist. Later on was free and easy time before head back to KL. That's mean, time for theme park!!

It will be my first time at theme park with le gf. Didn't manage to play any extreme one since we are still pretty full from lunch. Scare vomit ahhh.. Too bad the sky decided to rain 2 hour earlier before our departure time to back KL. Leave us no choice but to hangout at Starbucks. Anyway, pics time :P

Ignore some pics color. Just testing with some custom white balance and it look too red piff.. Anyway, it was a nice experience with Genting. Thanks for inviting ;)

p/s le gf addressing my hair as Sun Flower for whole day that day. Look like mehhh!?
