Al-Amar Express @ Farenheit88 and Circus @ Pavilion KL Review

Last weekend, I am invited to reviewed both places, Al-Amar Express and also the Circus, under Eatertainment Group who also owned the Al-Amar Lebanese Cuisine and also Main Course Catering services. For your information, Al-Amar Lebanese Cuisine located at Level 6 Pavilion. It's menu offers a combination of the popular hot and cold mezzes, grills, salads and also traditional desserts like the baklava and mohalabieh.

Of course, instead of Al-Amar Lenabese, we actually went for the Al-Amar Express which is more hip and casual. It located right outside Farenheit88, along the Bukit Bintang walk which easily spotted. Being casual place, Al-Amar Express definitely a place for people who enjoy watching while sipping on a hot cup of tea or coffee, smoking premium shishas or even having a quick bite any time of day. With a newly upgraded bar and the latest Happy Hour promotion, Al-Amar Express is a great choice to hang out with friends and chill around after a busy day of work.

The casual dining concept at Al-Amar Express is well designed with two terrace and an aquarium style indoor dining area. You can enjoy the variety of Lebanese wraps, healthy sandwiches, shawarmas and the traditional manakeesh at prices ranging between RM8 to RM25 per dish. In addition, Al-Amar Express also served Breakfast Buffet at RM25++ and launched its "Let's Meet Up" campaign to establish the venue's suitability for people to get together on any occasions, at any time of the day.

Next, we are moving to the Circus which is totally difference from Al-Amar Express. With the well equipped mood-altering lighting effects that metamorphose the decoration and atmosphere from a modern, casual eatery to a trendy, cosmopolitan dinner and drinking spot. Of course as the sun set, the atmosphere change to chic, cosmopolitan restaurant and cocktail lounge.

Here are the foods we had that night.

PC130548
* Bread stick *

Bread stick as our starter.

PC130557
* Mixed Fajitas *

Mixed Fajitas came with beef and chicken fajitas served guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo. Fajitas referring to any grilled meat usually served as a taco on a flour or corn tortilla. I personally love the chicken fajitas! It was good!

PC130561
* Vietnamese Spring Rolls *

Vietnamese Spring Rolls is a vegetable filled rice paper rolls served with a delicious sesame dip. I think it will be more awesome if it served with prawn as well haha.. Overall not bad if dip with the sesame oil or else it is almost tasteless.

PC130562
* Nicoise Salad *

Nicoise Salad is the traditional salad from French. It came with quail eggs and fresh tuna. It was alright and nothing much to shout. Guess I still prefer caesar salad.

PC130575
* Beef Platter *

Beef Platter is a bar bite combination to accompany with drinking binge. The beef is awesome!

PC130578
* Sarawak Laksa *
PC130580

As you have guess, it is Sarawak traditional Laksa that served with sambal and lime. Never try any Sarawak laksa before but personally I felt it is abit too salty and wet to my liking. It is not too spicy too.

PC130584
* Angus Rendang *

It might look like normal beef rendang rice but Angus Rendang easily become local favourite. It is a black angus beef simmered in coconut milk and curry served with white rice. For those who enjoy quality beef, this is a must!

PC130587
* Truffle Alfredo *

Truffle Alfredo came with tagliatelle, alfredo sauce, crispy beef bacon, permesan and truffle oil. It was creamy and good. If there is a thing I will complain about this will be the small portion of it.

PC130589
* Steamed Sea Bass *

Steamed Sea Bass is served on a bed of glass noodles with soy sauce. Not a huge fans of fish but the simple serving noodle is good. Sea Bass is fresh as well.

As dinner ends, the music goes up and the bar comes alive! Live music featuring renowned singers are part of entertainment in Circus and local DJs spin on Fridays and Saturdays.

Overall, great dining experience in the Circus. Great music, great foods, great drinks and also great companions are what made my Friday night awesome.

Hakata Ippudo Ramen @ Pavilion, KL and Tai Lei Loi Kei @ Hutong, Lot 10

Every weekend seem like sinful day for me because I am surrounded by good foods and food companions. Last 2 weeks I went to try out Hakata Ippudo ramen since it is a hype now and deary been really wanna try it. Ken, Zhao, Jacq, Alex, Sophia and Karwei joining us for the dinner. Finally the ffk godness Sophia is free for meet up :P

Since we have more people, we could order more foods. I guess I had abit culture shock that night because the green tea there wasn't refillable. A pot of tea just good enough for 2 cup of glass. We
gotta drink considerately ;/

Nevertheless, check out the appetizer we had.

* Avocado and Shrimp Wasabi Mayo RM13 *
* Curry Cheese Haru Maki RM10 *
* Pork Bun RM7 *

The Avocado and Shrimp Wasabi Mayo is very nice. The prawn is pretty fresh and nice to chew. Nothing to shout at Curry Cheese Haru Maki since is actually taste like curry puff to me. Can't detect any cheese taste. Finally the all time favorite, Pork Bun! Probably this is one of the best pork bun I ever had. The meat is so juicy and their sauce is awesome! Too bad it is too small :(

Finally is the ramen time! They had three signature which are Ippudo Original Tonkotsu (Shiromaru), Ippudo Original Tonkatsu (Akamaru) and Ippudo Spicy Tonkatsu (Karaka). Each signature will have another four difference type of ramen which basically same thing except one come with nothing, one with extra tamago, one with extra char siu and the finally one is everything inside. Well, we call that ultimate and most of us actually ordered that. It is worth to mention too they have three type of noodle - soft, medium and hard.

* Shiromaru Special RM34 *
* Akamaru Special RM36 *
* Karaka Special RM36 *

I got myself Shiromaru Special. On my first sip of the soup it totally blow my mind away. This is probably the most tastier and flavored tonkatsu (pork soup) I ever had. Though it is actually salty but I can bear it and finish up the soup on the bowl. The cha siu they had is slightly difference from the pork bun I had earlier. Noodle is elastic enough to chew and bite. I can't taste much the difference between Shiromaru and Akamaru except Akamaru had special sauce addition and taste less saltier and minimal spicy. Didn't get to try out the Karaka but according to deary it is spicy and she like it.

Total bill RM400 for 8 of us. Fuhh finally I am spending over Rm30 for a bowl of noodle. Worth it? Yes since it really taste good but I wouldn't have such luxury meal as frequent. Once in a a while is ok :)

Well while we all are actually thirsty because of the noodle and none refillable green tea, we decided to drop by to Lot 10 for a drink at Hutong while few of us wanna try out the just-opened-not-long- Tai Lei Loi Kei. They are famous for pork chop bun in Macau and this is their first outlet in Malaysia.

There are too many to choose fromt heir menu but in the end I decided to get a set which come with Signature Pork Chop Bun and a drink that cost RM12.50. In addition of RM3.00, I got myself a Tangy Mango Pudding with Longan.

* Signature Pork Bun RM11.20 (ala carte) *

After so much hype of the pork chop bun, I actually feel abit disappointed. It just a pork chop with a bun on it. No special sauce or nothing. Probably the signature is sauce-less. The pork chop is pretty dry and salty. Not the best, really. Alex told me there are better pork chop bun in Macau which I must try when I go there. I am looking forward to it on my coming HK trip on July.

* Tangy Mango Pudding with Longan *

The dessert? Nothing to shout. Just nice :)

Overall, a very sinful dinner with the gang but it is nice bonding session with them :)

Malaysia's Largest Lotus Convoy Gathering

* Lotus Evora *

Courtesy to Nuffnang, I am given chance to join the convoy gathering! Well I am suppose to join the convoy but something happened and made me change my mind to join them at Pavilion instead. Sad I miss up the convoy but whatever it is, I think it is super awesome to be able to see the chrome car! Yup the exact same car shown in The Host movie ;)

* The bridge *

Wake up in the morning, take LRT to KLCC. First time walk the blardy bridge to Pavilion. It is pretty nice actually if only the whole bridge got air cond lol

Reach Pavilion quite early and sad no blue sky. The Pavilion building look so sad and plain. Ok stop blaming the sky, it just me not skilfully enough. Glad to met some street photographer around and the moment I saw them holding Fujifilm X100s, I am excited! To my surprised they are from LYN too! Small world indeed. Hope got chance to join them street shooting someday.

Too bad I did not join the convoy thus, no experience could be tell. So, why not just enjoy the chrome car?

* The first car to arrived *
* Lotus, Lotus everywhere *
* There reflection. Who is d handsome dude? *
* Front view *
* Wide shot *

If you're curious, the driver for the chrome Lotus Evora car is none other than Natasha Seatter - Asian's fastest Female Racer. So if you wanna chase or "chase" her, learn some skill buddy.

Of course our ex Prime Minister, Dr Tun Mahathir was there as well. Joining the crowds and all the Lotus car owner for an awesome group photography session.

Finally, thanks to Nusantara Edaran Film, Lotus Cars Malaysia, GSC, and The Pavillion, KL for this convoy gathering. Doesn't matter, at least I join a convoy once back to last time. All the way to Penang for Drive Angry movie! ;P

* Now I believe there is something shorter than me in life *

The Host Movie

Thanks to Nuffnang for the movie screen yesterday. Not interested to watch at first but since I am joining yesterday Lotus convoy, so why not? Will blog about that tomorrow :P

An alien invader inhabits a captured human in an attempt to locate the last surviving free humans on Earth.

I have enough of twilight movie and this is definitely better than Twilight. Well not until the last part look pretty meh to me. To be honest pretty interesting concept. At least the alien come in peace, no blood driped.. just my assumption since they never bother to explain where and how the alien come and invaded the earth.

Nothing to shout on character performances. Not excellent not too bad too. Just plain emotion on Saoirse Ronan (Melanie) and her inner voice. Storyline pretty slow, draggy, lack of romance. Seriously I dunno what Genre to put for this movie. It doesnt even have the basic movie movie graph it suppose to have - I mean climax.

Overall, interesting movie but badly plan. At least, it is much better than twilight.
